Popping Natural Popcorn
Have you heard of the darling song, Popcorn popping on the Apricot tree, well this is popcorn popping in a little paper bag?
If your like our family, we don’t like all the chemicals and toxins in pre-packaged bags of microwave popcorn. Plus they can be expensive. We stumbled across this great idea, and it really works! This all natural popcorn is tender and absolutely delicious, and a healthy alternative.
For popping natural popcorn, you will need 1 lunch size brown or white paper bag, 1 paper plate – open sack and place on paper plate standing up.
In a small bowl mix 1/3c. unpopped pop corn, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 Tbsp. olive oil. Mix and add to bag. Turn down top of bag 2-3 turns. Microwave 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Microwaves are different so listen when popping slows way down, check it. Or yours may need to cook a few seconds longer. Bag should be nice and full.
Pour popcorn into bowl, remove popped popcorn placing in another bowl, leaving unpopped kernels in first bowl, discard. Melt 2 Tbsp. real butter and pour over popped corn. Toss and enjoy.
For extra flavor try adding drops of purest essential oils to melted butter, like cinnamon, orange, lemon, or lime, or another favorite flavor. Or toss with butter then sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Make sure the oils you are using can be used internal.
Bag is filled ready to place in microwave. We love popping natural popcorn with a great movie.
